Privacy policy

Effective: September 30, 2026

Paperdown 운영자 (“we”) operates Paperdown (the “Service”). This policy explains how we handle information. The Service is operated from the Republic of Korea in line with its Personal Information Protection Act. If this English version differs from the Korean version, the Korean version prevails.

1. We don’t collect your files or their contents

  • Files you add (.md, HWP, PDF, Word, Excel) and their contents are processed only inside your browser and are never sent to our servers or anywhere else.
  • There is no sign-up, so we don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number.

2. Information that stays on your device

To make the Service easier to use again, we keep the following in your browser’s storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). It is never sent to us.

  • The last document you opened (so you can continue), view settings (theme, text size) and conversion settings
  • A file handed from the viewer to the converter page (deleted as soon as it is handed over)

Clearing the site data in your browser settings removes all of it.

3. Analytics (Google Analytics)

  • What is collected: pages visited, browser and device type, approximate region, a cookie identifier, and how often features are used (such as opening, saving and converting — the type and count only)
  • What is not collected: file names and document contents
  • Processor and transfer abroad: Google LLC (USA). Data is transferred to and stored on Google’s servers in the United States and elsewhere, over the network, while you use the Service.
  • Retention: up to 14 months from collection (Google Analytics retention setting)

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

  • The Service shows Google AdSense ads on the left and right of the page.
  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of other vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info.

5. How to refuse cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The viewer and converter keep working without cookies.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction, deletion or suspension of processing of personal information we hold about you. We do not directly collect information that identifies you, and you can delete or refuse analytics and advertising cookies yourself as described in section 5.
